Me and @Malgosia are off work for 2 weeks and we just spent our first day together on a โ€œdateโ€ in Bromley whilst @Matt and @Feetlicker are at school.

We went for Japanese food (Miso) and doughnuts.

Bromley eh. I spent a lot of time in Bromley years ago, Frequented a pub called the Three Compasses. May not be there now.
Not a bad place as town go.

@stannard @Malgosia @Matt @Feetlicker I grew up in Bromley and left 15 years ago. I donโ€™t remember the Three Compasses but an online search returns pubs of that name in the late 19th century. Youโ€™re older than I thought ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‚

@alan @Malgosia @Matt @Feetlicker
Haha, Not quite that old !
I did a look up myself, Probably found the same website. On Widmore road, Last landlord from 1938 - 1971. I would have been there in 68/69.
I worked for a company in Southlands Road. Then I went off driving Lighting and sound rigs around the festival sites in 69 and 70. Moved north and married in 71. Still up here where the beer is better !

@stannard @Malgosia @Matt @Feetlicker Which company on Southlands Road?
You left Bromley before I was born ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

@alan @Malgosia @Matt @Feetlicker
Bromley Transport. Carried a lot of weetabix .
We used to go to a pub Saturday dinnertimes at the corner of Southlands road and the main A21. Cant remember its name, There was a lido part way down Southlands road.
I am 76.
I think I left Bromley before ANYONE was born

@stannard @Malgosia @Matt @Feetlicker There was a lido there, but I donโ€™t know whether it still exists or not. Further down the road with the lido on it is a council depot, which in turn is next to/part of the tip.

Was the pub the Five Bells or something similar? Iโ€™m sure itโ€™s apartments now...

@alan @Malgosia @Matt @Feetlicker

YES ! The five Bells, Almost certain.
Unless.... I am mixing it up with the Five Bells in Burnham, Where my Grandfather had a foundry.
All this talk of pubs has made me thirsty, If I dont respond after this, I have either succumed or died. Take care Alan.

@stannard You have been married for 50 years this year? Wow! ๐Ÿคฏ
Are festivities in order or ... pity?! ๐Ÿ˜‰ @alan

@Bella @alan
As my friend says, I could have murdered her twice and been free by now.
Nothing planned, perhaps the kids have something arranged.

She tells me I am like an old shoe,
I asked do you mean, old, tatty and something you are fond of.

She said, No. Old creaky and smelly !

@stannard ๐Ÿ˜‚
Sound like you made a good choice back in 1971. The two of you seem to share the same sense of humour ... which helps ๐Ÿ˜‰ @alan

@stannard You could have murdered her 4 times and been out on good behaviour by now ๐Ÿ˜‚

@Bella Iโ€™ve always said that you have to see the comedy in everything. If you donโ€™t laugh, you cry... and crying sucks.

@Bella @alan
On reflection I think I will celebrate the 50 years.
planning a romantic drive-thru.
I will let you know how it went when I get out of hospital.

@omnicaritas @Malgosia @Matt @Feetlicker Which part? Have you lived there for long? I like Bromley, but itโ€™s changed so much since I was a kid.
I used to work for Metrobus ๐Ÿ˜
